But, for those who experience cramps, fluid retention, lack of energy, headaches, and irritability, that time of the month can be a time they dread. And while feeling awful on the inside, let's not forget the external impact of hormonal changes on the skin.
Before, during, and after your period, it's common to experience skin dryness, irritation, excess oil, breakouts, acne, and redness. These monthly changes can start as early as the teenage years and respond to hormonal fluctuations throughout adulthood, pregnancy, and menopause.
For many, hormonal skin is a life-long condition. You can identify a hormonal breakout as spots most commonly occur around the jawline, neck, and chest area. Pimples are usually sore and nodular, cyst-like and pustular.
While we've become conditioned to applying harsh topical treatments and heavy makeup to try and cover up hormonal breakouts, we encourage our community to embrace this time of the month and love the skin they're in.
But, if hormonal breakouts are getting you down, as with most skin concerns, a holistic approach to hormonal skincare can help lessen the symptoms and make 'that time of the month' more bearable.
We've teamed up with our friends at Biologi to share tips for supporting the body through your period.
Get to know your cycle and adjust your regime to include phyto-actives that target redness and inflammation to soothe and calm the skin as you need them.
While there's no such thing as a topical 'cure' for hormonal acne and breakouts, Biologi recommends applying their Bd Luminosity Serum directly to hormonal breakouts as its rich in tartaric acid, gallic acid, and quercetin that work in synergy to reduce redness and inflammation and help calm inflamed skin.
The tartaric acid in Davidson plum also works as a fully active, natural enzyme that breaks down dead skin cells and regulates oil flow to reduce blockages in the cells and minimize the appearance of breakouts. The week before your period is due, introduce Bg Defence Anti-Pollution Serum containing salicylic acid that can penetrate the pores and effectively keep them clear of oil that leads to breakouts. Working in synergy with niacinamide and vitamin C, the active ingredients can also help reduce redness and irritation.
Sleep is one of the best medicines for irritated skin as this is the time when the skin respires, repairs, and rejuvenates.
Aim for six or more hours of unbroken sleep a night with light covers to avoid overheating. Our Boody Sleepwear crafted in organically-grown bamboo is specifically designed to improve your sleep, including its ability to regulate your body temperature. Bamboo is thermoregulating- meaning you’ll feel cool in summer and warm in winter.
We completely understand the temptation for 'just a little pick', but it's not just a myth that you shouldn't squeeze pimples!
Not only can touching spots transfer bacteria to the healthy cells, but scarring can also occur making the problem longer-term than once a month.
A healthy gut and a balanced endocrine system often go hand in hand. An imbalance in one may lead to an imbalance in the other.
If you experience symptoms as a result of a bacterial imbalance caused by food intolerance or vitamin or mineral deficiency such as zinc, this can affect the production of essential hormones that can impact the skin.
Consult with a dietician or naturopath to rule out any nutritional imbalances and advise on supplements to support the skin.
While the body might be craving the sweet stuff at this time of the month, too much sugar or toxins can cause an inflammatory response that can leave the skin red, dull, and irritated and directly lead to breakouts.
Focus on consuming whole foods packed with nutrients and your skin will thank you for it.
A healthy skin barrier can help reduce the impact of hormonal changes. Avoid over-exfoliating and keep the skin barrier hydrated and strong by applying antioxidants.
Avoid hot showers and harsh products that can strip the skin's natural oils leaving the skin dry and tight.
Too much stress increases cortisol release which can lead to breakouts. While there's often no way to avoid stress in our modern world, identify some stress management techniques such as meditation, yoga, deep breathing, or just a relaxing bath.
Feeling confident at 'that time of the month' can also help reduce stress, so take a look at the products you use to support yourself during your period.
For too long, we’ve seen an unrealistic portrait of people who menstruate and leak. Sometimes, especially when we’re in pain or feeling fragile, it’s okay to just be.
Blue LED treatments can help kill the bacteria that gather in the pores leading to breakouts. The LED can also reduce the activity in the sebaceous glands reducing oil production that can become blocked in the pores leading to breakouts.
Hormonal skin is unavoidable for most people at some point in their life. As with all skin concerns, understanding specific triggers combined with applying active ingredients can help reduce the impact of hormonal acne and increase confidence during your period.
]]>So, is viscose good material for clothes? Viscose is known for its soft, drapey look—but it can wrinkle.
To get the look you want from your viscose clothing, it’s important to know when and where to wear it and how to care for it. Read on for our best tips and tricks to keep your viscose looking silky smooth every day and every wash.
Let’s take a closer look at the science behind viscose’s many benefits—and its chance of wrinkling.
It's no secret that clothes made with viscose fibers tend to wrinkle and crease. But why does viscose fabric wrinkle? Viscose can wrinkle because it’s woven or knitted from the delicate, pulped fibers of woody plants like:
Other woven and knitted naturally derived fabrics like cotton and silk are also prone to wrinkles, but this shouldn’t discourage you from wearing them. Sustainability-produced and naturally derived fabrics are good for the environment and for your body thanks to moisture-wicking and breathability.
Likewise, you don’t have to stand like a statue to avoid wrinkles when wearing viscose.
Learning a few simple tricks to care for your viscose garments will help you feel smooth and confident.
Sitting and bending are both actions that tend to cause wrinkles in viscose fabric. At the same time, you have to move around!
Luckily, there are a few things you can do to make your viscose a bit more wrinkle-resistant:
Sometimes it’s frankly impossible to keep the wrinkles out of your viscose clothing. But don’t toss them on account of a few creases! With caution, you can wash and iron viscose fabric yourself. While professionally dry-cleaning your garment will surely return it to its full, smooth glory, you can also follow a few quick, easy steps to return the fabric to its original luxurious texture at home.
Washing your viscose offers a hard reset to any wrinkles and creases. However, there are certain precautions you should take when throwing in the washing machine and drying this delicate fabric. Sometimes the best fix for wrinkled viscose is ironing. Like washing, however, you must be cautious to prevent damaging the delicate fabric from the heat. Some tips for ironing a viscose garment include:
One good alternative to iron viscose is to steam it, but this requires a special tool and isn’t feasible unless you’ve invested in luxury-quality laundry accessories.
At Boody, we specialize in designing, crafting, and bringing you luxurious, sustainable bamboo viscose garments, from Underwear and sleepwear to Women’s Bamboo Shirts and loungewear.
But caring for them shouldn't be a chore. We recommend washing your Boody garments with similar colours, using gentle biodegradable detergent and a warm wash setting. Then, air-dry them in the shade or tumble dry on the lowest or most delicate setting to prevent heat damage.
With proper care, your Boody Eco Wear will leave you feeling comfortable and chic all day long. Shop more Sustainable Clothing with Boody.

These clothes that you wear between your office outfit and pyjamas are known as loungewear.
So, what is loungewear, exactly? As the name implies, loungewear is essentially clothing you can relax in. Whether it’s after work, the weekend, or even a day you work from home, loungewear is your go-to for ultimate comfort.
Loungewear has exploded in popularity because it’s both comfy and fashionable. Think of it as a happy medium between being dressed up and ready to hop into bed. Although the definition of what constitutes loungewear is pretty wide-ranging, some characteristics typically found in your favourite pieces include:
Many of today’s loungewear styles have special touches that take them from basic and plain to fun and unique. Think fun buttons, colourful patterns, and extra fluff for comfort. There are even sustainable styles available, such as bamboo loungewear.
Absolutely! The magnificent thing about loungewear is its flexibility. Grabbing a quick coffee with a friend? Relaxing on the couch with a good book? Trying out some new self-care day ideas? Getting your hair trimmed? Any of these occasions are ideal for your favourite casual lounge-appropriate outfit.
In the past, levels of formality were such that you might not have dared to step out in your loungewear. Luckily, today’s clothing packs plenty of style and polish into a much comfier package than the pieces our mothers and grandmothers wore.
Loungewear seamlessly blends comfort and fashion by utilizing:
Sometimes the terms loungewear and sleepwear are used interchangeably. After all, loungewear is cozy enough to sleep in. The biggest difference between the two is that you typically cannot wear sleepwear out and about. Instead, sleepwear is meant to be worn in your home only.
When you think of sleepwear or pyjamas, you probably think of pieces that are thinner and flimsier than the clothes you wear during the day. Sleepwear includes items such as:
Sleepwear has comfort in common with their loungewear cousins but seriously lacks style. Think about your oversized flannel pyjama pants from four Christmases ago or that oversized t-shirt that has one too many holes. They’re cozy, but they’re definitely not your go-to for a Sunday coffee shop run or a visit to your yoga studio. If you’re in need of some new PJs, it might be a good time to consider a sustainable style like bamboo viscose sleepwear.
Loungewear takes the comfiness of sleepwear and upgrades it with:
You won’t feel shy about going out in your loungewear. Furthermore, there are countless pieces to choose from when you’re building your perfect look.
The list of what is considered loungewear is quite extensive. Some of the most common (and coziest) items you’ll want to have in your closet include:
You can even get bras and underwear that fit into your casual comfort lifestyle so you can cover yourself in softness from head to toe. Bamboo and cotton are proven winners when it comes to undergarments to wear underneath your lounge favourites.
Loungewear is today’s answer to the question of what to wear when you want to be cute and comfy. Clothing that falls into the loungewear category can be worn at home and when you’re out running errands and includes soft pants, sweaters, t-shirts, and more cozy essentials. The important thing is they should be comfortable to wear.
For that reason, they are usually made from breathable fabric. At Boody, we provide sustainable bamboo loungewear and also sustainable athleisure. Our clothes are made from bamboo viscose, which is light, breathable, and low maintenance. Aside from comfort, one of the bamboo benefits is that they are more eco-friendly.
If you want to ensure that your comfy clothes are also good for the environment, then we’re here for you. At Boody, we believe in protecting the planet and producing high-quality, sustainable, and luxuriously soft clothing. Check out our store today and find your new favourite after-work outfit.

So how can you wear a bra and a tank top together?
Bra straps versus tank tops is a battle as old as time; or at least as old as bras. But don’t despair—we’re here with solutions. Read on for our five favourite bras to wear when you want your shoulders out but your bra straps in.
Called apodesmos in ancient Greece, this simple undergarment is the earliest known style of bra. Encircling the chest with no shoulder straps, this strapless bra style fits snugly over the breasts and mid-back, making it one of the best bras to wear with tank tops.
Some of the other reasons why a bandeau is a cool choice for summer are:
While this bra is ideal for A and B cup sizes, because it doesn’t have underwire or additional support, this strapless bra style may not be the best choice for bustier or older ladies. However, recently, some manufacturers have begun experimenting with bandeaus containing boning and underwires for those who desire a little extra support while still keeping their shoulders free.
A sporty racerback bra is a great match for any tank top that has a narrow shoulder profile or an athletic cut. With a single strap in the back that joins the thin front straps in an X-shape, these versatile bras usually pull over the head or have a front clasp. In fact, you may already own one if you have a convertible bra in your dresser.
Additionally, racerback bras:
Speaking of breast type, do you know yours? Like faces and bodies, breasts can be categorized by shape. If you’ve never thought about your breasts beyond their size, this would be a good time to do so. Knowing your breast type and which bras to get for them can help reduce any potential bra fitting problems.
To start, take a look at your chest. What shape (or combination of shapes) do you have under your top?
Regardless of your breast type, a racerback bra can keep your girls supported and your shoulder straps hidden while you rock your summer tank.
Does your favourite tank have a halter top? Although the term halter comes from its similarity to the rope used around the neck of livestock, these cute tops are anything but bovine. But finding the right bra for a halter top can be tricky. Luckily, halter bralettes provide the perfect option.
The difference between a bralette and a normal bra is actually pretty simple—bralettes are just bras without any structure. This means that bralettes don’t have any:
Bralettes are simply comfy, unstructured bras—the perfect choice for summer.
Sometimes, a little peek of the bra strap can be sexy and intriguing, especially if that strap is embellished with lace. To achieve this look, pair a lace bralette with your tank top, and you won’t have to worry about hiding your adjustable straps.
Not only does this make for a cute outfit, but it also allows you to showcase a garment that might otherwise stay hidden.
Okay, we admit this technically isn’t a bra. But sometimes, the best undergarment option for your summer tank top is none at all. While this option isn’t for everyone, there’s no law that says you must wear a bra.
If you like the look of your tank top but haven’t bought a bandeau, racerback, or bralette yet, try wearing your top with nothing underneath. You may be surprised by how comfortable you feel.
No matter what type of bras you’re looking to add to your underwear drawer, Boody offers a variety of options that are comfortable to wear and gorgeous to look at. With shades like nude, pink, storm, and black, you’re sure to find the perfect bra to match your favourite tank top. How often should you change your bra? Read our guide to find out.
All of our sustainable bras are made from bamboo that’s never artificially irrigated, so you can feel good knowing you’re wearing something that’s both gentle on your body and on the environment.

Having a, shall we say, dishevelled underwear drawer is a common issue. After all, how do you keep a garment that is skimpy on the surface looking tidy and organized?
In this guide, we’ll teach you how to fold underwear in order to best organize these clothing intimates. With these tips and tricks, you’ll optimize your drawer space and ultimately save time when making your morning selection.
When it comes to the organization of your underwear drawer, nothing should be left to the imagination. Ideally, you should be able to see the full range of options.
Below, we’ve nailed down 3 methods to keep your underwear drawer neat.
This first folding method works best for different types of underwear for women like briefs, bikinis, and boyshorts, and is most suitable for those whose home storage set-up gives them a bit more room to work with:
If you’re trying to save even more drawer space, you’ll want to go with the jelly roll folding method. The bonus of rolling rather than folding your undies is that it helps to keep the wrinkles at bay. Here’s how to pull this folding technique off:
It’s not in the cards for every laundry day, but if you’ve got the time, you can show your undies some extra love by ironing before you store. Not only will it cut back on wrinkles, making the folding process easier, but it can also help to kill any bacteria lingering after a wash cycle. Find out more tips and tricks on how to wash viscose bamboo items.
If you’re partial to boxers or briefs, either of the above methods should work for guys looking to take control of their underwear drawer.
For those who opt for other types of underwear for men with more fabric—like classic relaxed boxers, or a longer boxer brief—you’ll want to rely on the following method:
Need to replace those ripped-up boxers? Find a good pair of sustainable men’s bamboo underwear to minimize your environmental impact.
Yes, folding your underwear can sometimes feel like a chore. But the more love you pour into organizing your top drawer, the less time you’ll spend trying to find your favourite pair. Need to upgrade your underwear wardrobe? Learn more about the style of underwear you prefer with our ultimate guide to women's underwear.
Looking for sustainable underwear that loves you back from the first wear to the first wash? Slip into Boody Eco Wear’s sustainable line of women’s and men’s underwear. ]]>But when you’re ready to do some shopping, you might wonder if your organic cotton clothes are actually doing good for the environment.
Long story short? Organic does not necessarily mean sustainable—but when compared to conventional cotton, organic cotton can be much better for the earth, our environment, and us. Don’t worry if the whirlwind of eco-friendly advertising in the clothing industry has got you turned around. Read on as we clear the air about the sustainability of organic cotton fabric.
Let’s start with a few basic definitions. First up: organic and cotton.
Conventional cotton is an agricultural product grown throughout the world. It’s a woody-stemmed, low, bushy plant that grows in warm-weather climates and produces a daisy-like flower followed by a fibrous seed pod called a boll. The boll is harvested, then becomes fabric through the complicated and multi-step processes of spinning and weaving.
Organic is a term that is strictly defined and regulated. The definition of organic means the crop is grown without the use of:
Furthermore, the crop must maintain these standards for three years prior to certification. The process of becoming certified as organic requires that organic farmers and handlers document their cotton production processes and get inspected every year. The inspections take in every aspect of the organic cotton farming practice, including:
So, putting that together, organic cotton (in a nutshell) is grown using only non-GMO seeds, pesticides, and fertilizers with no synthetic chemicals, and earth-friendly practices. We’re all trying to do our part for Earth's health, so this makes organic cotton seem like an easy lifestyle choice.
But when it comes to ensuring your organic cotton clothing is also sustainable, there are a few more factors at play.
Now that we’ve gotten to the bottom of what cotton and organic mean, let’s do the same for sustainability. Is there organic, sustainable cotton? And what does it mean for a garment to be truly sustainable?
While definitions might vary based on your perspective, we like the definition from McGill University’s Climate & Sustainability plan. Sustainable means “meeting our own needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”
Theoretically, regular cotton can be viewed as sustainable because it comes from a plant that can be replanted and harvested year after year (unlike, say, a redwood tree which takes many years to mature). It isn’t a finite resource like fossil fuel or a slow-growing resource like hardwood.
But the idea of sustainability takes in more than the lifespan of the plant itself. In our opinion, sustainability also includes:
With fewer pesticides and toxic chemicals, organic cotton can be a better option for Mother Earth. But to ensure your cotton clothing is also sustainable, you need to look beyond simple labels to find the truth behind your clothing.
As you seek sustainable brands, look for options that are transparent about their sustainable practices and methods of production. These may include:
While labels like “recycled cotton” and “sustainable cotton” might catch our earth-loving eyes, it’s important to dig a little deeper into the specific labels and practices a company uses. The more transparent they are about how they work towards sustainability, the more confident you can be that you’ve made a green choice.
At Boody, our mission has always been to bring you genuinely comfortable and exceedingly well-crafted sustainable fashion. For us, that means providing full transparency about our production methods and sources, also known as the Boody Code of Conduct. Whether you’re looking for organic cotton clothing or other sustainable choices like viscose, we approach every part of our process with sustainability in mind.

]]>So choosing organic cotton clothing seems like an easy decision, right?
Not so fast! As with all sustainable choices, it’s important to take a moment to learn a bit more about why organic cotton might win over conventional cotton—and what makes these two materials different in the first place. Read on if you’re interested in learning about organic cotton and whether it’s the best choice for you and the environment.
Before we get into debating modern cotton farming techniques, let’s get familiar with the plant we’re talking about: cotton. It’s soft, durable, and probably on your body right now. But what else do you really know about cotton? Here are the basics:
All of those cotton factoids point pretty compellingly to buying and wearing organic cotton fabric. But first, it’s important to understand what sets this organic alternative apart.
What exactly is “organic” cotton anyway?
You might associate the word organic with your healthy fruits and veggies, but it’s not always clear what this term means when it comes to cotton. For many years, there was no standard definition, but today any cotton product labeled “organic” must meet the following criteria:
Organic crop standards are defined as follows:
What is organic cotton? In short, it’s cotton that is farmed according to these practices and certified organic by the relevant authoritative bodies.
With fewer pesticides, fewer synthetic chemicals, and more thoughtful cultivation practices, organic cotton can certainly offer a more environmentally friendly choice when compared to regular cotton. Is organic cotton sustainable?
Here are a few other reasons why organic cotton can be a better alternative for you and the earth:
Sustainability is sometimes in the eye of the beholder. But when it comes to plant-derived textiles, the ones which help us create a healthier world are always a better alternative.
Whether you choose to purchase conventional or organic cotton clothing, the fact that you are shopping mindfully for yourself is a win for the environment.
At Boody, we believe in bringing you quality, comfy, sustainable clothing basics that keep you feeling good about yourself and your personal impact on Mother Earth.
From our sleepwear to our loungewear, women’s bamboo shirts to our underwear, sustainable and ethical are our touchstones. ]]>Wirefree bras are no longer limited to sports bras and lacy bralettes meant to be shown off. We're wearing our wirefree bras all day, every day and we're thrilled that Boody has removed all bra hardware, creating a smooth look that feels supportive, soft, and 100% effortless. From yoga class to work to date night, these comfy, seamless bras have earned a permanent place in our wardrobe.
Wirefree bras are comfortable! Have you ever been poked in the ribs by an underwire gone rogue? Or counted down the minutes until you can walk through your front door and toss your bra aside? Those push-up bras may look sexy, but wearing metal across your chest... not so much. That's why we love wirefree bras. They're comfortable all day long. Without wires, clasps, or fasteners to rub, poke, and itch, bras aren't so bad! Plus, it is possible to find comfort and support (yes, we're got both covered!).
You don't have to hand wash them. Underwire bras often have to be hand-washed and dried flat - any twisting could throw the entire shape of the bra off-kilter. Wirefree bras aren't quite so delicate. You can toss them in the washing machine, which also means you may wash them more often (who else us ready to admit they may not be washing their bras enough?!).
Wirefree bras can be cute and flattering. Taking the underwire out no longer means suffering from the dreaded uni-boob. Wirefree bras now have shaping technology and the option of padded support to give you the silhouette you want, without any of the squeezing and pinching you don't.
If you're going to start with just one wirefree bra, trust us, it should be the Shaper Crop Bra. With a feminine shape, ribbed soft straps that are just wide enough, and our signature bamboo viscose that's oh-so-soft, this will become your everyday bra in no time.
On occasion, you told us you may want a little something extra, and that's why we created the Padded Shaper Crop Bra. Just like the Shaper Crop Bra, the Padded Shaper Crop Bra is seamless, soft, and totally wirefree, but it has a bit of added support in the way of removable inserts - it's that bit of added shape you're looking for.
And we can't forget the classic! There's always room in our wardrobe for the Racerback Sports Bra: a must-have for any active lifestyle.
Lastly, of course, bras need their partners in crime: Undies, check out our range of super soft comfy undies.

And, when you daydream about your ideal wardrobe, what does it look like? Is it a minimalist wardrobe made up of perfectly organised neutral tops and bottoms? Or do you imagine a base of monochromatic layers serving as the foundation for your collection of statement pieces?
Whether your style is simple and sleek or bold and playful, a capsule wardrobe full of monochromatic basics allows you to do more with less. It's your go-to jumping-off point for a closet that makes it easy and, dare we say, fun to get dressed every day.
We know that shifting your wardrobe can be an intimidating process. Culling or adding - It all requires a bit of planning and know-how. That's why we're here to walk you through Capsule Wardrobe 101: Working with Monochromatic Basics.
First of all, what is a capsule wardrobe? It's a streamlined collection of timeless classics that you can mix and match to create all the outfits you need to carry you from your most casual occasions to your most glamorous.
Headed to the farmers market on Saturday morning? Throw on a bodysuit and jean shorts. Date night that evening? With a capsule wardrobe, that same bodysuit will do double duty when you pair it with a maxi skirt and bright earrings. It's all about investing in quality items that you'll be excited to wear again and again - and coming up with new and different ways to wear those throughout the seasons.
Second, a capsule wardrobe expands, rather than restricts, your options. You've probably heard the theory that we make decisions best when given fewer quality options. Now, apply that to your wardrobe. You could have drawers filled to the brim with a random assortment of 60 items than if you had an array of 30 intentionally chosen pieces that are high-quality basics ready to mix and match for endless outfit combinations.
Lastly, a capsule wardrobe can save you time and money. When you concentrate on creating a closet full of high-quality items and monochromatic basics that give you the ability to mix, match, and mix again, you'll not only save money by avoiding pieces that just don't work for your lifestyle, but you'll also save time no longer wondering, "what on earth do I wear today?!" You'll find a pop of fun and colour in your accessories and statement pieces while sticking to the same reliable classics each and every day.
So, where do you start with building your own capsule wardrobe? Made from a viscose manufactured from bamboo, these sustainable clothing options from Boody are the base pieces that will serve as the foundation for your capsule wardrobe. With these durable monochromatic pieces in place, you'll then pepper in a few statement items along with fun accessories. Soon you'll start discovering new outfit possibilities and establishing favourite go-to's each time you open your closet doors.
Cami Bodysuit: Everything from high-rise jeans to ball gown skirts looks right with an elegant bodysuit.
Tank Top: Your everyday workhorse, you'll layer this timeless tank under a blazer, wear it on its own with shorts, or pair it with jeans and a gauzy scarf for a breezy spring day.
Cami Top: Need something a bit flirtier than the iconic tank? Reach for this cami whether you're pulling on yoga pants or a summer skirt.
Long Sleeve Top: Lounging around on a Saturday? Long Sleeve Top. Headed to a brewery happy hour on Tuesday? Long Sleeve Top. Need a layer under that chunky knit sweater? Long Sleeve Top.
Three-Quarter Sleeve Scoop Top: The long sleeve top's feminine counterpart, this shirt is just as versatile, but with a pretty scoop neck and delicate 3/4 sleeve length.
V-Neck/ Crew-Neck T-Shirt: There's no look that's more effortless than a simple V-Neck or Crew-Neck Tee, a blazer, and jeans, but your V-Neck/ Crew-Neck will be your go-to for both work and weekend all year long.
Full-Length Leggings: Yes, leggings are totally pants. And that's why they're a must in any capsule wardrobe. Forget the rules and wear leggings with abandon - and ballet flats and boots.
]]>So, is viscose a good material for clothing? Although viscose is a relatively strong and durable woven fabric in the right conditions, it can shrink when wet, especially at higher temperatures. If you think of viscose as a superhero, its kryptonite is hot water.
But when handled with care, does viscose fabric shrink? Let’s find out.
Keeping your viscose fabrics in prime condition and at their original size means taking good care of the material. To help you do just that, here are some tips.
Viscose fiber care instructions can vary based on the make-up of the fabric—both the weave and finish as well as whether it’s a blend or 100% viscose. Be sure to read the fabric care instructions to see what is unique to the item.
Quick hint: If you have trouble interpreting care instruction symbols, bookmark or download a care label guide for reference.
The key to cleaning viscose clothes is being gentle. Care instructions will generally instruct you to use gentle washer and dryer settings or hand wash and air dry. Avoid high-spin and rigorous wringing out of the synthetic fabric material. Viscose fiber is at its weakest state when wet, so it needs to be treated lightly.
If you’re hand-washing viscose clothing:
If you’re machine-washing viscose, help protect it by:
Viscose is not a fan of high heat, especially when wet. You can anticipate seeing either warm or cool settings for both washing and drying viscose. If you’re hand-washing, keep the water temperature cool to lukewarm water temp. If air-drying, viscose garments should be kept out of the sun and either dried indoors or in a shady area.
If your clothing’s care instructions include machine laundering at medium settings, it’s probably made with a blend of viscose and other materials and able to endure more heat and manipulation while wet than 100% viscose.
Quick hint: Avoid machine drying unless your blended material has at least 30% of the non-viscose fabric.
The feature that makes viscose clothing perfect for summer—i.e. that it absorbs water and sweat, keeping you dry—is also a potential weakness. Unless kept in a low-humidity environment, viscose can mildew because it absorbs water from the air.
Quick hint: Never store viscose in plastic bags or containers. This will increase the risk of mildewing.
Responsible clothing and textile makers will have pre-washed viscose fabrics prior to cutting and forming them into end products.
If you’re using the material in a sewing project, opt for pre-washing to address shrinkage from the get-go, but do a spot test first to check colour fastness. You’ll still want to wash the viscose garment gently and avoid heat and agitation. Even if you’re planning on shrinkage, regular machine laundry settings and heat can agitate the fibers that make up viscose, changing its smooth and soft feel to a rougher texture.
You may be wondering if viscose is biodegradable and how to avoid shrinking the fabric? When washed in hot water on normal settings and machine-dried, 100% viscose can shrink by up to 25% in a first wash, though 3–5% shrinkage is more typical. The amount of shrinkage depends on:
Whether it continues to shrink after multiple cleanings depends on continued care in using recommended gentle laundry practices.
So, is viscose sustainable? Knowing where your clothing comes from and caring for it once it’s in your hands can make all the difference. Boody creates sustainable clothing made from bamboo and cotton viscose blends that are sustainable and designed to last. These are just a few of the many bamboo benefits! Most of our viscose blends are machine-safe for both washing and drying, and they’ll stay indulgently soft for years to come.

You aren’t alone.
Choosing the right bra can be incredibly tricky. In fact, women all over the world have experienced the side effects of an ill-fitting bra. These issues could be an underwire digging into their ribs or a loose band that just won’t sit right and makes them wonder “Why do women wear bras?” But that all ends here.
In this guide, we explore 7 bra fit issues and how to fix them so that you can go home with an everyday bra that provides all-day support, comfort, and confidence.
Some women who complain of their bra’s underwire digging into their ribs think it’s completely normal and something to be tolerated. Ladies, this is never the case. If the bra wire is digging into your skin, it’s most likely because you’re wearing the wrong bra size. The issue may be:
To stop underwire digging, take new chest measurements to confirm your correct bra size. You can even consider switching to wireless bras, which may be better suited to your unique body shape.
Gaping cups are one of the more annoying bra-fitting problems most of us have faced at one point or another. If there are gaps at the tops of your cups, no matter how much you adjust your straps, it’s time to try a different bra style or purchase a smaller size.
Because each of us has a different breast shape, a bra style that works well for you might not work so well for your best friend, even if you have the same cup size. The following breast shapes may experience gaping cups with certain bra styles:
To address gaping cups, first, try sizing down to fill out your cups. If the issue persists, try a different bra style. When choosing your new bra style, consider bras that don’t have full coverage or padded bras that have a bit of a push-up effect, such as:
Not only will you likely feel more comfortable and feel good about the impact you’re making on the environment, but you’ll also enjoy the added lift.
Are your shoulder straps slipping off or digging in too much? Contrary to popular belief, your bra band should be the one doing the heavy lifting, not your straps. So, if you’re in pain because your straps are digging into your skin, try a padded bra with a smaller band. Just moving down one band size can do wonders on your fit.
Alternatively, if your straps are slipping off, make sure they’re tightened enough. Your straps should be adjusted every month to readjust your bra fit. If that still doesn’t fix the problem, you might need a coverage bra with shorter straps.
Shoulder straps are one thing, but what if your backstrap (i.e. your band) keeps riding up your back? We all know how annoying this is. You keep adjusting the clasps, but the bra strap keeps riding up and bothering you all day.
This means it’s time to come to terms with how old your bra is. Bras have an expiration date, and bra bands stretch over time, making them less effective as they become looser. If your full-coverage bra can’t be tightened anymore (and you can’t remember when you bought it), it’s time to throw it in the bin and invest in a new one.
How tight should a bra band actually be?
Because everyone is different, there’s no universal answer to this. However, there are a few questions you can ask yourself to ensure the proper fit:
If your breasts are spilling over the top and sides of your bra, it’s a surefire sign that you need a larger cup size. One tried-and-true indicator of a need to size up is if your girls look lumpy under your shirt.
If this is the case, throw out your bra—it's time to treat yourself to a new one. How often should you change your bra? Read our guide to find out.
Picture this: You’re sitting in your Monday morning work meeting, and you can barely focus because all you can think about is how that little piece of fabric between your cups isn’t sitting flat. What’s the deal?
One rule of bra sizing is that the center part of the bra (technically called the gore) is supposed to lay completely flat between your breasts. If your bra isn’t doing this, it could be due to several factors. Either:
To fix this issue, make sure you’re wearing the correct bra size, and remember to try on different bra styles to find the fit that works best for your unique breast shape.
When wearing a bra, you’re supposed to forget you even have one on—but for some women, that’s not the case. Maybe you undress in the evening to find red marks all over your skin, or perhaps the tag near the clasp is causing unbearable itchiness and a rash.
If you find yourself running into these problems, consider stocking up on bras that feature:
Finding a properly-fitting bra doesn’t have to be a challenge. By confirming your size, trying various styles, and investing in new bras, you can treat yourself to all-day comfort and support, and say goodbye to ill-fitting bra side effects.
At Boody, our sustainable bras are beautifully designed with your well-being in mind. Each of our bras is made from bamboo viscose, making them super soft, breathable, and eco-friendly. With a variety of styles and sizes to choose from, you’ll be able to find a bra that’s right for you. Whether you’re looking for bras to wear with tank tops or bamboo shirts, we have you covered.

Anybody who’s spent hours squirming in their seat because of an itchy sweater or tight pair of jeans knows how difficult it can be to dress for the plane. Long flights can already be draining from the long period of sitting to jet lag, and it can be especially uneventful if you're not wearing comfortable clothes. Whether you're on a long-haul flight or a short flight, what you wear says a lot about your comfort throughout the duration of it.
That’s why we’re here to help you figure out what to wear on a long flight, from women's activewear to a cute dress. Let’s dive into a couple adaptable, travel-friendly outfits so that you can step from the plane to playtime in style and in comfort.

Fit – Are you more comfortable in roomy clothing, or do you prefer a soft, fitted shirt? The perfect fit ultimately depends on you. Baggy, loose clothing tends to offer more flexibility and airflow. Let’s face it—sometimes, casual just doesn’t cut it. Whether it’s an upscale vacation or a momentous business trip, throwing in that extra bit of glam can level up your look.
Dress up your outfit while still ensuring maximum comfort with the following outfit idea:

It’s not quite as simple, however, as tossing them in the washing machine and waiting for them to emerge an hour later, sweat-free and shining. To keep them from pilling or losing their elasticity, you’ll need to take a slightly different approach.
Washing gym clothes and women's activewear is unique to them and their specific fabrics. Keep reading to learn how to wash workout clothes gently and effectively. We’ll take you through a step-by-step process and clue you in on a few expert tips to keep those beloved leggings looking fresher, longer.
So, what is activewear exactly and what's the 101 on washing it? Activewear can be anything from workout leggings to a sports bra that you wear during a workout or when active. Washing activewear is important to make your garments last longer.
After an intense session at the gym—and a long day before that—you might be ready to set your gym bag on the floor and turn in for the night.
“I’ll handle it first thing tomorrow morning,” you think to yourself.
But somehow, four days go by, it’s the end of the week, and your dirty workout clothing is still hanging out where you left it.
We hate to break it to you, but your workout routine isn’t over when you get up from the mat. If you want your gear to last, you’ll have to treat it right, which means starting the wash process as soon as you can. In fact, letting your gear sit overnight can result in:
So, since we don't want our sweaty gym clothes to get ruined and the lingering odor to stink up the place, let’s get back to the basics and get washing.
While your workout gear is delicate, it’s best to let your washing machine handle the job. This is because the spin cycle helps to loosen all the dirt and sweat that’s built up in your clothing. Hand washing may be gentler, but it may not get rid of the odor-causing bacteria as efficiently.
That said, there are some exceptions when handwashing is preferred or necessary, such as:
Now that you’ve unloaded your gear from your gym bag, follow these steps to ensure you’re washing your activewear like a pro:
When it comes to taking care of your workout gear, you can never pay too much attention to the details. Beyond just the basics, follow these tried-and-true tips to get the most out of your wash:
Now that you know the basics of washing sweaty workout clothes, they can stay clean and new all the time. If your gym bag is the culprit, add in some gym bag essentials (like a deodorizer) to ensure the lingering odor of old activewear doesn't transfer to the new.
Get the most out of your workout gear by washing all of your favourite essentials—the right way. If some of your staples do get lost in the wash, however, look to Boody's sustainable athleisure for long-lasting, fashionable replacements. Whether you're starting a new workout program or wondering if activewear is the answer to what to wear on a long flight, quality activewear shouldn't be hard to reach.
From breathable, seamless sports bras to relaxed-fit, lightweight tank tops and shorts, our activewear collection is what you’ve been looking for to take your workout to the next level of performance and comfort.

We get it. But self-care is a critical component of your overall health. Without it, you may find yourself tossing and turning at night, massaging your clenched jaw after a long, stressful day, and missing appointments or neglecting important tasks.
Self-care can come in different forms, such as living a healthy lifestyle, reciting positive affirmations, or even just getting adequate sleep. Taking a few minutes to yourself can help you recharge your mind, body, and spirit to help you take on a new day with positivity, self-compassion, and confidence. If you’re at a loss for what to do on a self-care day, put on your comfiest outfit, turn off your phone notifications, and get ready to shower yourself with love and care using our top five ideas for a self-care day.
Self-care is meant to be a personal practice. To that end, spend your “me” time doing whatever feels best to you. The goals of self-care include:
You can even incorporate self-care into your daily routine, whether it’s spending 15 minutes before you get out of bed gratitude journaling, or taking your lunch break to embark on a long run that keeps you feeling strong, happy, and confident.
But sometimes, you may need to take a full day to deviate from your routine entirely. Erasing your normal obligations for a day allows you to rejuvenate your mind and body and focus on your needs.
It's never too late to start practicing healthy habits. Part of self-care is nourishing your body along with your soul. If you’re often too busy to take the time to prepare meals for yourself, this is an ideal opportunity.
Treat yourself with:
Focus on the pleasure your food brings you as you take each bite and allow yourself to indulge guilt-free.
If you have a list of activities you’d try if you had the time, your self-care day is the perfect time to check something off your list. Put on your favourite lounge top and make the day all about you. Take a walk in your neighbourhood or attend a class at your local yoga studio, watch a YouTube video on guided meditation, or summon your inner Picasso with a painting class in neoclassical portraits.
There are truly no limits! Check-in with yourself and identify an activity that’ll feed your soul (and maybe even your body, too) like:
If you’re seeking a day at home, nothing is more relaxing than settling in on your couch with a cup of tea and a good book. Get as cosy as possible with your favourite night dress and a fluffy blanket.
You don’t have to leave home to pamper yourself. You can give yourself a relaxing spa day with a few simple tools, such as:
You’ll find that you feel calmer and more relaxed after you indulge in your home spa. This self-care habit can be useful in lowering stress levels. So, don a pair of bamboo pyjama pants and indulge in your DIY spa.
You don’t have to spend your self-care day indoors. If you crave more fresh air and sunshine, then get outside. There are many activities you can do to recharge your batteries while enjoying the outdoors, including:
As a bonus, your comfy loungewear can move seamlessly from inside to outside, so you don’t even need to change your clothes.
Once you’ve sifted through your self-care day ideas and landed on the perfect one for you, it’s time to set yourself up for success. To optimize your self-care day, you should:
Remember, your self-care day is all about you. Don’t feel guilty for setting aside the time you need.
Practicing self-care is a must for overall health. Your brain and body need time to relax and disconnect from the daily grind. Set aside an entire day for yourself and fill it with the things you love.
But to really maximize your self-care enjoyment, you have to be comfy!
At Boody, we make soft, comfortable, and sustainable loungewear perfect for any self-care day activity you dream up. Our clothing is made from bamboo viscose and organic cotton for a fit you can feel good about. We have a range of clothes made out of eco-friendly materials, such as our athleisure collection and sustainable bamboo loungewear collection. Love yourself freely in Boody.

If so, you’ve come to the right place.
Here, we’ll answer all the everyday bra-changing questions you’ve wanted to ask, including how often you should change your bra, how often you should wash your bra, and when you should replace your bras with new ones.
The short answer—it depends. Unless you’re regularly breaking into a sweat, you don’t need to change your regular bra every day. A change twice a week (or at least once a week) is a good guideline to aim for. However, breaking into a sweat isn’t the only thing that should prompt you to change bras.
While regular bra-changing isn’t a science, dermatologist Alok Vij recommends switching bras every 2 to 3 “wears,” with a “wear” being when the old bra begins to:
On average, this works out to switching bras once every 3 to 4 days (unless you’ve been through an extremely active day, in which case, you should put a new bra on right away).
Changing your bra helps your skin stay healthy by removing dead skin cells, oil, and sweat residue from your body, but this isn’t the only benefit. One of the main benefits of wearing a bra and changing it often is that it helps them maintain their shape.
The longer you wear a bra, the stretchier it becomes, so it’s a good idea to rotate bras regularly to ensure that the cups and straps retain their shape and elasticity. After all, you want to keep that flattering, well-fitted form as long as possible.
We all have our favourite bras. Maybe it’s the colour, the texture, or even a memory we have about wearing it. But if we’re not careful, we could end up wearing that special bra for too long, resulting in a relaxed shape and a less-than-pleasant smell.
So, after your 2 or 3 wears, remember to also wash your bra, rather than simply swap it with another. You may even need to wash more often depending on certain factors, including:
Some of us might be holding onto bras we’ve been wearing for the past 3 years. If that’s your story, don’t worry—you’re not alone. It can be hard to let go of a favourite piece of lingerie you spent hours searching for and even longer lounging in. But all good things must come to an end, and bras—even the pretty ones—are no different.
Here’s a good rule of thumb to remember: Replace your bras every 6 to 12 months.
That’s a broad range, but it’s because many factors come into play when determining the right time to replace your bras, such as the number of bras you own and the frequency of your wears and washes.
Keep an eye out for these warning signs that indicate a bra should be replaced:
In any of these cases, it’s time for a new bra.
Changing and washing your bras every 2 to 3 wears can help ensure their longevity, as well as your skin’s health and your overall comfort. And when it comes time to replace the ones that no longer fit you, we can help.
At Boody, we’ve designed beautiful and sustainable bras with your comfort and needs in mind, using a sustainable bamboo-derived viscose blend that can withstand the stress of daily use while maintaining its shape and softness. Our eco-friendly, breathable, and stylish fabrics make wearing bras a breeze, so you don’t have to worry about annoying bra fit issues.

But when lugging your bag to the gym becomes the workout itself, it’s time to re-evaluate. Keeping a bag of gym essentials handy and ready to go is important to preserve your energy for the actual workout session.
To help you pack more efficiently for your next sweat session, let’s focus on these seven gym bag essentials, from essential women's activewear to headphones and a snack. Our trusty guide will help you get back to the basics so you can rock that workout while keeping your gym bag clutter-free.
When you’ve made time for the gym between office meetings and your weekly grocery shopping, you want to get the most out of your hard-won workout. Cut down on the friction of getting started by bringing along the following items:
Listening to music actually makes you tougher, increasing your endurance, whether you’re putting in the hours on the spin bike or adding that extra bit of weight to your lifting routine. Pop in some tunes before you start to set the tone, while you’re changing in the locker rooms or lacing up your sneakers.
Keeping organized means you can work out while minimizing worry. Pack a small pouch in your gym bag for any valuables, including your phone, wallet, and lock for the locker room. That way, you won’t be spending five minutes rummaging for those essentials before hitting the treadmill.
Is there anything worse than looking forward to going to the gym after a long day and then feeling too light-headed to continue during your intense HIIT session? Fueling up with a healthy snack can make a difference. Throw an easily digestible carb in your bag, such as an apple, banana, or granola bar.
Bonus: Find Your Motivation
If you’re lacking the energy to begin your workout, you’re definitely not alone. Beyond just the items to put in your gym bag, try these pre-workout tips and tricks:
Once you’ve started your workout, keep that flow going by limiting the possibility of distractions. After all, you don’t want to have to step off the treadmill when your hair tie breaks simply because you didn’t pack extras. Apart from loading up on hair ties, headbands, and bobby pins, consider keeping the following workout essentials on hand as well:
Whether you’re in the middle of an intense leg day workout or finishing out your recovery on the yoga mat, have a towel close by to dry yourself off. Choose a moisture-absorbing microfiber towel made from cotton or viscose.
Keeping hydrated is a must, and having a sustainable, eco-friendly way to do it is even better. Reusable water bottles come with a host of advantages, such as ergonomic grips, insulation, and anti-spill features. This means you can personalize your go-to gym bottle based on your unique needs.
Sweat session? Check. With your workout behind you, it’s time to transition to the next part of your day with your endorphin level at an all-time high. Keep the good vibes flowing by remembering to pack the following post-workout items:
Get out of those sticky gym clothes and into a clean set of staples so you can feel fresh for your next event. When it comes to packing the right bras and underwear, remember that you might still be breathing hard from your workout. Choose lightweight, airy fabrics that won’t sacrifice comfort. In the case that you're squeezing in a workout session on a busy day, you can throw your workout clothes in your bag, just make sure to wash them when you get home. And, if you're wondering how to wash workout clothes, you can always follow the instructions on the tag when in doubt. But, never let sweaty gym clothes sit in your bag.
If you don’t feel right without a post-workout shower, stash a pair of slippers in your gym bag so that you can use these public spaces without inconvenience. Reserve a separate pocket for your slippers, throw them in a drawstring pouch or stick them in the side with the soles facing the gym bag to protect your clothing. Keeping your workout bag light is important so you're not overpacking unnecessary items.
One more gym bag essential you won’t want to forget. Activewear staples from Boody.
Get in the spirit with flawlessly simple staples, designed with your workout in mind. Whether it’s a pair of high-waisted leggings providing ultimate support for your mid-morning run or a breathable hoodie for lounging around afterward, look no further than our soft, environmentally-friendly bamboo clothing and activewear collection for all your fitness needs.

If you’ve recently bought some brand-new viscose clothes, you might be uncertain about the best wash setting for this silky-smooth but somewhat delicate fabric.
Have no fear. We’re here to help you keep your viscose fresh and soft, whether you’ve recently stained it or simply need a wash after everyday wear. Read on for our guide on how to wash viscose.
Viscose is a blanket name for different cellulose-based fabrics made from pulped woody fibers. There isn’t just one type of viscose. Viscose is a rayon fabric created with semi-synthetic fiber, made from the wood pulp of numerous fast-growing, woody, regenerative trees and plants such as:
You may not be able to tell exactly what species of plant your viscose garment came from (unless the brand is upfront about it). It’s always a good idea to follow any manufacturer's care instructions, but in their absence, you should generally follow the same care procedure for your viscose clothes.
Dry clean delicate viscose clothing like shirts and dresses to preserve their colour, luster, and drape.
However, for viscose casual wear, loungewear, undergarments, and pyjamas, dry cleaning isn’t feasible or cost-effective. In this case, keeping your viscose in good shape at home means giving it a little extra love and consideration in the laundry room.
Follow these steps:
If you happen to own a white viscose garment, you may be interested in learning how to keep it looking it's snowy best.
Luckily, it is possible to bleach viscose. However, there is a big caveat here. You should only use oxygen bleach on viscose. Never use chlorine bleach, which can burn and break the viscose fibers.
In general, it’s best to avoid putting your viscose clothing in the dryer.
The tumbling action of a machine dryer can be too rough for viscose. High temperatures and the possibility of snagging on other items make this a tricky choice. We recommend laying your viscose flat to dry or hanging it on a drying rack.
If you’d prefer to use a dryer, heed these tips:
Still, have some questions about washing your viscose? Let us answer:
Laundry is, by definition, a chore—but learning the proper steps is definitely worthwhile. If you treat your viscose with consideration, it can last you many beautiful, silky years.
All you need is a biodegradable detergent, cold or lukewarm water, and perhaps the help of a mesh bag on days when there’s just no time for hand washing or air drying.
At Boody, we specialize in top-quality bamboo viscose sustainable clothing that feels good on your body and does good for the planet. From underwear and sleepwear to women’s bamboo shirts and loungewear, keep that good feeling going by taking proper care of your viscose items.

Did you know? Your skin is the largest organ for absorption, so what you put on your body is just as important as what you put in it. No pesticides, insecticides or fertilisers - bamboo is naturally organic and doesn’t require chemicals to enhance its growth. Bamboo fibre smoothly falls into place in its weave, leaving gaps open for air to flow freely. Made out of eco-friendly material, our underwear is soft and breathable where you need it most. Discover more about the benefits of bamboo in clothing here.
Bamboo contains an anti-bacterial and anti-fungal bio-agent which is retained through the process of fabrication and after washing. This property also makes Boody garments odour-resistant. This is so important because the structure of the bamboo fibres contains micro-gaps, which provide ventilation and evaporates moisture that causes bacteria to multiply.
Not only is organic bamboo underwear breathable, but the fabric is also more naturally moisture-wicking and absorbent than other materials— which leaves you feeling fresh and dry throughout the day. Fun fact: Bamboo fibre is naturally absorbent and speedily wicks away moisture - up to four times faster than cotton.
We don’t want to brag BUT we have our community letting us know how much they love our underwear because it is so soft and comfy - regularly. This compliment is often followed with ‘but how?’ Viscose from bamboo can be compared to some of the most luxurious fabrics like silk! Bamboo fabric is extremely durable yet still has a natural soft and silky feel to the touch. Bamboo fibres are smooth and round and contain a natural ingredient called pectin that helps enhance its soft texture. The fabric drapes elegantly without wrinkling. Bamboo fibre gets softer and softer as it's washed. This is because bamboo fibres line up, rather than move out of position.
Fact: Bamboo absorbs carbon dioxide and releases 35% more oxygen into the atmosphere than the equivalent area of trees. Bamboo is a crucial element in the balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. This makes bamboo excellent for absorbing greenhouse gases and producing clean, fresh oxygen. At Boody, bamboo is the foundation for everything we make. It's our choice for sustainability, comfort, health and wellness.
You’ll notice that each of our products has an impact index. An impact index is a tool that calculates the environmental impact of each product. By measuring our own environmental footprint, we can let our community know and understand environmental savings when better practices are used.

]]>International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated around the world on the 8th of March.
International Women’s Day is celebrated in many countries around the world. It is a day when all women are recognised for their achievements. International Women’s Day was first born out of labour movements at the turn of the twentieth century in North America and across Europe.
Since those early days, International Women’s Day has grown in prominence and reach, touching women in every corner of the world. The growing international women’s movement has helped make International Women’s Day a central point for action including building support for women’s rights and their full participation in the economy, politics, community, and everyday life.
In 1910, Clara Zetkin, the leader of the Women’s Office for the Social Democratic Party in Germany tabled the idea of an International Women’s Day at the second International Conference of Working Women in Copenhagen. The proposal received unanimous support from over one hundred women representing 17 countries.
The very first International Women’s Day was held the following year on March 19th. Meetings and protests were held across Europe, with the largest street demonstration attracting 30,000 women. In 1913, IWD was moved to March 8th and has been held on this day ever since.
International Women’s Day has become a time to reflect on progress, to call for change, and to celebrate the courage and determination of the women who changed history, and those who will advance gender equality into the future. International Women’s Day is an occasion to review how far women have come in their struggle for equality, peace, and development. It is also an opportunity to unite, network, and mobilise for meaningful change.
To help kickstart your journey to sweating more sustainably we’ve put together a guide that supports your goals and the environment.
Breathability refers to how easily air moves through the fabric. Breathable fabrics allow hot air to escape and keep you cool and comfortable. The structure of the bamboo fibres contains micro-gaps, which provide ventilation and evaporates moisture that causes bacteria to multiply. The smooth bamboo strands do not snag against each other, and won't cause a blockage in the gaps of the weave. The evaporation, which naturally occurs, drives moisture to continually travel towards the surfaces of each bamboo fibre.
Quick-dry material can make a huge difference in comfort during a workout. A key benefit of moisture-wicking fabric is that it helps keep you dry when you sweat. It can also aid in staying cool during the warm and humid summer months. Moisture-wicking materials feature stain release properties that can require less water and detergent when washing. To preserve the fabric’s effectiveness, try to avoid using fabric softeners.

]]>The expression itself is easy enough to understand, but does it really really mean. What gives intentions power, and how do we get the most out of them? An intention is a mental state that represents a commitment to carrying out an action or actions in the future. Intention involves mental activities such as thinking, planning and writing it all down.
Think of and write about what you want. The most common mistake people make when writing intentions is that they list everything that they don’t want rather than focusing on what they want.
An intention is so powerful because it slowly shows people how incredibly powerful they are. When you set an intention, you are activating your receptivity. You will find yourself manifesting, attracting and actioning.
Set a time in your calendar, sound an alarm and block out some time. Same place, same time every month. Marking your intentions as a ritual will make it a habit and eventually become something that comes so natural to you.
Gratitude is a very important part of the intention-setting process. Finding peace or the gratitude in your life will help you stop and reset when setting your intentions.
While setting your intentions seems easy - doing them can be another thing. A couple of actionable items will help you. Check in with yourself daily. This could be done every morning before you get out of bed. Inhale, exhale and read what you have written out loud.
Ah, you’re in luck. We have a list of intentions just waiting for you

]]>We were so proud of our portmanteau that we added a trademark to it. LYOLYTE™ - Australia’s first bamboo lyocell underwear. LYOLYTE™ - the name of our new collection is derived from us blending the benefits of our new fabric and what makes it different; because a conscious ethos and supreme comfort go hand in hand. "Lyo" is for the sustainable Lyocell process used to create our new fabric. "Lyte" is to describe the lightness of the fabric.
Lyocell is one of the most sustainable fabric processes on the planet. After the bamboo is harvested in FSC certified fields, the bamboo is cut into small pieces and ground into a pulp. This pulp is then dissolved by non toxic chemicals and what remains is a raw cellulose. At this stage of the process the raw cellulose is pushed through spinnerets and the bright white Lyocell fibres then emerge. These fibres are then spun into yarn which are eventually woven into fabric.
At Boody, we are committed to building an honest and responsible business, and creating sustainable everyday basics that fit into your eco lifestyle and values. We put sustainable thinking at the center of everything we do. It inspires us to constantly innovate while keeping people and the planet top of mind. We’re always looking at what our community wants and after listening and reviewing, we decided we wanted to create a new underwear collection in a lighter fabric with still the same sustainable properties. This led us into exploring the lyocell process - crafting new styles and colours that give women a top drawer option that is a little bit more luxurious, oh so lightweight, yet still sustainable.
Finer and lighter - this is underwear that cares about you and the planet.
We want to break new boundaries in sustainable clothing and encourage our community to rethink the materials you wear on your skin. It's time to wear something lyte on you, lyte on the planet.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to raise awareness about the impact of breast cancer. Did you know that 1 in 25 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in South Africa?
As a brand that creates intimates - it seemed fit for us to use our platform to talk about breast cancer and use the month of October to simply be breast aware - because if you grow them, you should know them.
Firstly, it’s important to acknowledge that only you can really know your breasts. The way breasts look and feel will vary for every person. That is why it is so important to be breast aware as this will ensure you can acknowledge a change - if there is one. Remember, October is a reminder to check your breasts - but checking should be made part of your monthly routine.
“Forty percent of diagnosed breast cancers are detected by women who feel a lump, so establishing a regular breast self-exam is very important.”
In the Shower
With the pads/flats of your 3 middle fingers, check the entire breast and armpit area pressing down with light, medium, and firm pressure. Check both breasts each month feeling for any lump, thickening, hardened knot, or any other breast changes.
In Front of a Mirror
Visually inspect your breasts with your arms at your sides. Next, raise your arms high overhead.
Look for any changes in the contour, any swelling, or dimpling of the skin, or changes in the nipples. Next, rest your palms on your hips and press firmly to flex your chest muscles. Left and right breasts will not exactly match—few women’s breasts do, so look for any dimpling, puckering, or changes, particularly on one side.
Lying Down
When lying down, the breast tissue spreads out evenly along the chest wall. Place a pillow under your right shoulder and your right arm behind your head. Using your left hand, move the pads of your fingers around your right breast gently covering the entire breast area and armpit.
Use light, medium, and firm pressure. Squeeze the nipple; check for discharge and lumps. Repeat these steps for your left breast.
A new lump is one of the most common signs of breast cancer. Lumps that are breast cancer can vary. For example, they may be painless or painful. Lumps can also be a sign of a benign (non-cancerous) breast condition. However, if you have found a new lump or breast change, it is important to see your doctor so that it can be checked by a health professional.
A breast change doesn't always mean it is ‘cancer’. However, being breast aware is invaluable and if you do see a sign, have a symptom, don't feel right or simply just want to be sure - we encourage it! Early detection gives the best possible chance of survival if you are diagnosed with breast cancer.
It is important to remember that breast awareness does not replace having regular mammograms and other screening tests as recommended by your doctor. Some people diagnosed with breast cancer have signs or symptoms. However, some women have no signs/symptoms and the breast cancer is found during a screening mammogram.
In general, women should have a yearly clinical breast examination by a doctor beginning at age 20 and start having annual mammograms beginning at age 40.
If you experience any breast symptoms or unusual changes, see your doctor without delay.
If you have a strong family history or you are concerned that you may have an increased risk of breast cancer, always talk to your doctor. Your doctor will help you assess and manage your breast cancer risk and will advise of any additional precautions or screening you may require.
Mammograms are recommended for male breast cancer screening in men over the age of 40. However, other tools to check include a clinical breast examination, an ultrasound and a biopsy.
So many people assume breast cancer affects women only. Breast cancer affects both men and women, because men and women both have breast tissue. Male breast cancer is rare, accounting for 1% of all breast cancers in South Africa. If you are a man or are reading this and have men in your life - it is important to make them always aware and let them know that if there are any new and unusual changes to their breasts - they should be aware and seek attention.
For the month of October, we will use our platform to talk to breast cancer awareness and share insights through personal stories. Our platform is open to #EveryBoody. If you have a story you would like to share, want to share someone else's story or have someone you want to give a shout out to - please reach out to us. We would be honoured to share your story and your message. As one of the most common cancers in the world and a cancer that has touched so many in one way or another - simply starting the conversation and education pieces like this will help lead to an increased awareness.
